John Nicholson has been in business since 1979. Based on the Isle of Wight, our company has a trading history both on and off the Island, having won prestigious contracts (where our work has featured in trade journals) as far a field as Colchester, London and Lyme Regis.

Although we are a building company, employing all trades, and servicing small building and maintenance works for end clients (such as banks, supermarket, national high street chains, national and local organisations and institutions), our main business and expertise is in specialist roofing systems. These currently include Alwitra, Icopal/ Anderson and Decra as the main systems in our approval list for which we have licensed installers.

Our experience and expertise over nearly 30 years of trading, not only in a specialist sector, but broadly across the building trades, gives us unique insight into resolving problems in design and building failures, particularly where specialist roofing systems interrelate with building design, areas where a roofing contractor, or a building contractor seldom cross. This expertise has been recognised by the awarding of the highest accolade of Fellow to our managing director, John Nicholson, of the Institute of Roofing.

John Nicholson Ltd are a small company, employing local operatives that we have trained in-house (with external help and support, to national standards), so that we can be sure that they meet our exacting standards that our regular customers have come to expect. This is supported by Quality Management system accredited to ISO9001. In 1993, we became the first contractor to be awarded the Quality Standard on the Isle of Wight, and one of the first in the South. Further to this we were also the first contractor to gain the Investors in People (IiP) award three years later, in 1996, and remain one of the few contractors to retain both ISO9001 and IiP.
